Bywater Build-Out

In the Bywater, Mayer Building Company recently delivered a much needed full renovation to 739 Mandeville Street at the corner of Dauphine Street.  We replaced the roof and salvaged the terra cotta ridge caps. The exterior siding of this sort-of Dutch Coloniel, sort of Mid-Century residence was in serviceable shape, and needed only minor rafter-tail and weatherboard work. The inside was a completely different story. Along with the owner, we came up with an innovative layout that would add some user-friendlier spaces to this odd split-level. With a few partition changes, and a new location for the interior stairs to the basement, a new access and porch/landing that leads from the driveway to the kitchen, the home flows better than ever before. The work included new plumbing, wiring and adding central air and new finishes. We reclaimed the existing wood floor, base and doors, and installed a new kitchen, two new bathrooms, a couple of closets and a full laundry area. We even restored a pleasant screen porch too.

Mayer Building Company continues to be a team player. For this project, the developer performed all the sheetrock and paint works in-house, so we worked in tandem with his forces. This facet of the project demonstrates our success in co-operation with alternate crews.

The team-effort overhaul of this building not only put a nice address back in commerce, added value to the burgeoning Bywater nieghborhood, but also brought a second-rate structure into historic compliance and spiffy good looks.
