In the fall of 2017, MBC completed a renovation of a 2000 sf residence on the 11th floor of the Carol on St. Charles Avenue. The project included renovation of three bathrooms, a kitchen, a laundry room and all the bedrooms and living space. Though it was challenging to work in a large occupied complex, Mayer Building Company did our best to keep our footprint light. We protected the common areas near by the work-site, remained approachable and amenable to the building’s and its occupants’ requests. We were quiet and fast. Notable features included high-end custom showers and space-saving layout upgrades.Photos by Anne Finney.Read More
Mayer Building Company completed a number of small projects recently. We completed a termite repairs and window replacement in an old building on Royal Street. We replicated an HDLC protected wood rail at a roof deck gallery on a manor house in the Lower Garden District. We built a new gallery over looking St. Charles Avenue on an underused front facade Uptown on the Streetcar line. Here’s a quote from one of the owners, “I wanted everyone to know that the floor replacement work done by Ryan’s crew is amazing! Ryan, I can’t thank you enough for your attention to detail when replacing and refinishing the floor boards. It is literally impossible to distinguish the old wood from the new.
After the historic Baton Rouge flood, MBC was pleased to help a family member rebuild his home. We were able to quickly gut and demolish the flood damaged parts of the home. When it came time to rebuild, we worked with the homeowner who performed much of the rebuilding himself. We secured a design by Holly Baker for putting the pieces back together. We installed doors and trim and cabinets and a new ceiling and lights in the kitchen. We installed new windows and siding in select areas. We installed tile and grout. We gave discounts and tried our best to provide clear correspondence and a listening ear. We tried to give our best guidance and shared opinions. I mention these last items because, in a way, it is typical of what we do as a great general contractor, but given the sensitive nature of the project (i.e. the client was not planning a renovation); it also made me realize that I have work to do on those very things. Listening and understanding the client’s concerns are really the utmost best thing a good contractor ought to do. I know this family is pleased to be back in their home after such a devastating event, and I’m glad we could help them get there. I’m also glad for the reminder to try to walk in someone else’s shoes.Read More
During the summer of 2016, Mayer Building Company delivered two top-notch residential renovations for New Orleans Reno. The TV shows aired this January. The work included a high end renovation of half of a shotgun double in the Bywater and a kitchen/dining/living room update Uptown near Tchoupitoulas. The construction work was fast-paced, but diligently performed by our staff and subcontractors and vendors. The production team was a pleasure to work with and we hope to be making more shows for Holly Baker, RTR Media and HGTV soon.Read More

This winter MBC completed a simple, clean restoration of a shotgun double in the heart of Mid City. We restored the front facade and replace the rest of the exterior: cementious siding, new architectural shingle roof and decking and new clad windows. We rehabilitated this building with much of the of the historic character left in place. We salvaged all doors, mantels, hearths, transoms, floors, rim locks, attic clerestory window and much of the trim. While these aspects were carefully restored, we updated the two apartments to include all new plumbing, electrical, central AC, new kitchens and laundries, composite deck-boards, gutters and downspouts, closet space and pantriesRead More

Thanks again for a job well done! We have completed over 30 Cyclebars across the country in the past year. The New Orleans (Magazine Street) site was not only one of the best but working with Mayer exceeded all expectations. I look forward to future work with the Mayer Team.
Y’all did such a nice job. Thank you so much for your careful work. You’ve helped transform our space!
I just want to thank you and your staff for going above and beyond during this build out process. With us being in a different city, y’all have been awesome to work with. Y’all have accommodated every change within our construction window and have helped us greatly on things that couldn’t have gotten done without you and your staff’s help. Thanks so much. It is greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much for doing such a great job. The rooms look great and the inconvenience to us was minimal at worst. Your personnel was friendly and easy to work with. Fred was really great. We are very pleased with the result. Thank you and I hope to work with you again on another project.
I was concerned about doing a renovation at a place that was many states away from where I lived. I needed someone that I could count on and could handle every aspect of the renovation. I also required someone who was familiar with the permit requirements for an historical building in New Orleans….I would highly recommend Ryan Mayer to any potential client. I was extrememly pleased with the work he performed and would use him again for any additional contracting needs that I may have.
We are always excited to partner up with MBC to work on our new location developments or redesigns,
as we can always count on quality, timeliness, and most importantly, the right level of communication
in the client relationship.
As we grow City Greens, we look forward to working with the Mayer Building Company in the very near future.
It is with pleasure, and of my own initiative, I am writing this letter of gratitude
for the work you and your company performed at 4905-11 Magazine Street.
As the architect of that renovation, I worked closely with you, your superintendent
Fred Goodrow, and your staff during the months of construction. Your knowledge, experience, and good judgement, and that of your
employees, were critical in addressing these issues and contributed significantly
to the successful completion of the work.
Both the building owner and I are very proud of the results and are grateful to
you and your staff for a job very well done. I sincerely look forward to the next
time it is my good fortune to work with you.
