510 Esplanade

In April 2012, Mayer Building Company commenced a major overhaul of the 4-story 1840s masonry townhouse (read mansion). Ten months later, one of the finest residences in the French Quarter emerged. This home, which had once been converted into four condos or apartments, is now re-establised as a single family home in granduer and panache. Above the gas lanterns, two galleries, dressed in iron lace, catch river breezes and views well into the Marigny/ Bywater. The home, designed with eloborate and ornate finishes, Victorian in some places, Louis XIV in others is a study in custom craftsmanship and artisan applications. 510 Esplanade also contains state-of-the-art equipment blended into its style for super-ergonomics in the kitchen, baths, palors and recreation areas.

Bywater Build-Out

In the Bywater, Mayer Building Company recently delivered a much needed full renovation to 739 Mandeville Street at the corner of Dauphine Street. We replaced the roof and salvaged the terra cotta ridge caps. The work included new plumbing, wiring and adding central air and new finishes. We reclaimed the existing wood floor, base and doors, and installed a new kitchen, two new bathrooms, a couple of closets and a full laundry area. We even restored a pleasant screen porch too. The overhaul of this building not only put a nice address back in commerce, added value to the burgeoning Bywater nieghborhood, but also brought a second-rate structure into historic compliance and spiffy good looks.

Elevator Interiors Improvements

In February 2013, Mayer Building Company conveyed interior improvements to the two (2) Pier 8 Condominium elevators at the West End complex. The updates included re-cladding the elevator’s interior with polished diamond plate steel and removing to old VCT floor to install a new super heavy-duty oil resistant Johnsonite rubber floor.

In Kenner, Mayer Building Company delivered a roof, canopy and parapet renovation for the Animal Care Center, a veterinary clinic on David Drive. We came up with very cost-effective systems for new roof line, parapet, and cementious panel canopy.

Interior Repairs at Anytime Fitness

In early fall 2012, Mayer Building Company provided a quick repair package to the Anytime Fitness on Canal Street. The gym, which had been affected by the 2012 storm, required a nimble and attentive crew to furnish and install sheetrock, vinyl base, ceiling tiles and paint in a few minorly damaged areas. The finish package we delivered turned out to be a satisfactory match, but what was just as important for this job was our operating procedures. The job at Anytime, which is open to the membership public 24-7, needed much temporary protection, extreme cleanliness, and customer-service flexibility. Mayer Building Company afforded all of these things.

Double to Single Conversion

On Dumaine Street In Mid City, Mayer Building Company performed a relatively simple conversion of a front and back double to a single. In keeping with the Craftsman style, we installed milled banding around the door frames, employed salvaged New Orleans cypress doors and recycled rim locks. We also installed a massive built-in bookshelf and storage cabinet that was salvaged from another Mayer Building Co project.
