In the Spring of 2018, Mayer Building Company completed Metairie’s first Shipley DoNuts. Located on Metairie Road, the Project included clean, branded finishes that no one will ever look at, ya know…’cause of the donuts. This highly anticipated location finished with minor punch items and is rolling full steam ahead. Congrats to the local Shipley DoNuts team and thanks!
Read MoreBefore Carnival season 2017, Mayer Building Company completed Joseph at 5500 Magazine Street. The project consisted of converting a worn mercantile space into a chic, contemporary luxury retail store called Joseph. “Today’s Joseph stores in Memphis and New Orleans are among the top four or five retail operations in the U.S., outside of the Neiman Marcus group and Saks, in sales of designer shoes and handbags, as well as jewelry, apparel and cosmetics.” – JosephStores.com The work included updating the “back of house.” the sales floors, adding a new high-end cash wrap, and polishing up the exterior just a bit.
Read Morethe spring of 2018, Mayer Building Company completed an office/ historic project for Windy Hill Pictures, a New Orleans film production company. The work at 5707 Magazine Street, formerly Blue Fog Chocolates included finishes, mechanical and electrical and facade renovations. We salvaged the old pine floors, old wood windows, exposed the old masonry and created a new dynamic office space that replaced the “slat-wall decor” of the chocolate retailer. We updated the ceilings and bath and breakrooms and installed new HVAC, lighting, and plumbing systems. We built Windy Hill a block and stucco planter and repaired the old facade openings and shutters.

We renovated the finishes and fixtures of the retail area, the cash wrap and the nail salon area. The new owner knew this multi-faceted facility needed a make-over so it could keep selling make-overs. Mayer Building Company got it done with minimal business interruption.

The fresh look, designed by Bockman Forbes, incorporated the existing finishes, subtly augmented for excellent effect. The work consisted of crafting a new counter and seating surface with matching stone, new casework, modifications of existing casework and painting and new light fixtures.
Read MoreDuring the fall of 2017, Mayer Building Company took on a hodgepodge of work for Inlow Guitars. The company which is housed in an historic building at 1800 Hastings housing had been left in the lurch by a dubious contractor the previous year with structural elements in question, a leaking roof and an incomplete guitar shop build out. Mayer Building Company was hired to complete structural wood and steel elements including plated tie-backs near the parapet, replace and warrant the roof, add a bitchin’ roof deck and tidy up some loose ends in the guitar shop. Read MoreIn the fall of 2017, MBC completed a renovation of a 2000 sf residence on the 11th floor of the Carol on St. Charles Avenue. The project included renovation of three bathrooms, a kitchen, a laundry room and all the bedrooms and living space. Though it was challenging to work in a large occupied complex, Mayer Building Company did our best to keep our footprint light. We protected the common areas near by the work-site, remained approachable and amenable to the building’s and its occupants’ requests. We were quiet and fast.
