The project, designed by Garrity Accardo Architects, included wholesale replacement of an office, reconfiguration of the warehouse layout to suit the new tenant, a new kitchenette, two new restrooms, a built-out will-call and branded finishes.
Some of the unique aspects include automated warehouse lighting, safety features installed for a loading dock, contemporary office finishes and a clean, well-lighted space.
The work began in January and continued through the coronavirus pandemic, which provided a particular challenge. Mayer Building Company said it took special precautions, followed the Centers for Disease Control health and safety guidelines and the orders of all authorities while completing the project.
A temporary hand-washing station was installed and vendors were rescheduled so that limited technicians were on site at any given time. Any signs of sickness were monitored, and CDC-recommended disinfection techniques were included during and after the final cleaning, Mayer said.
Mygrant Glass Company was founded in 1926 as a retail shop called Harry R. Mygrant Glass & Glazing and is now a third-generation business. It was first passed to son Robert Mygrant in 1945, who transitioned the business to wholesale in 1952 and grew it to six locations by 1966. Grandson Michael Mygrant took over the one remaining location in 1979 and is now general manager of 67 locations nationwide, making the California-based company the largest independent wholesale distributor of auto glass in the United States.
As the company moved into Jefferson Parish this year, Mayer Building Company completed a warehouse renovation and office construction for them. There were very few changes and a minor punch list, according to Mayer Building Company.

I was concerned about doing a renovation at a place that was many states away from where I lived. I needed someone that I could count on and could handle every aspect of the renovation.
