Mayer Building Company partnered with Loyola University and Eskew+Dumez+Ripple to renovate Stallings Hall, a 6,770-square-foot academic and administrative building. The project enhanced accessibility, security, and operational flow, benefiting both university administration and the Loyola University Police Department (LUPD). Key updates included converting multi-stall restrooms into ADA-compliant single-occupant restrooms, adding controlled-access entry points for improved security, and reconfiguring administrative offices for better workflow. Throughout the renovation, strong coordination with university leadership ensured quality finishes and timely completion while maintaining ongoing campus operations.

Mayer Building Company is proud to contribute to the Bobet Hall Renovation Project at Loyola University, New Orleans. This project modernized two suites and a chapel on the ground floor, creating new offices and collaborative workspaces. Located at 6363 St. Charles Avenue, the renovation covers 3,878 square feet, enhancing functionality and comfort while preserving the building's historical integrity.

Mayer Building Company focuses on vital behind-the-scenes projects, such as replacing worn-out steel stair treads at the university’s law school. We installed new diamond plate treads and risers, preserving existing landings and railings while repainting the entire assembly to restore structural integrity. These essential repairs ensure safe, well-maintained infrastructure, reflecting our commitment to quality in all projects, whether large or small. We are here to build, repair, and improve.

Mayer Building Company completed a comprehensive retrofit for the Tulane University Business School in 2024. The new Innovation Lab, designed by Studio West, features updated finishes and systems, along with a range of advanced amenities, including Smart Tint glazing, customizable lighting, integrated window treatments, and glass whiteboards. The space includes areas for teaching and assembly, breakout and conference rooms, as well as a concealed kitchenette.

Since 2017, Mayer Building Company has implemented numerous cost-effective renovations for Loyola University. A recent accomplishment was the complete overhaul of exterior lighting across the campus during the summer. Affecting over a dozen of the university’s renowned buildings and various locations on both the main and Greenville campuses, Mayer Building Company teamed up with electrical contractor Ohm Electrical Contractors, LLC to complete this safety-enhancing project through innovative and creative management solutions.

In time for the fall semester of 2022, Mayer Building Company successfully delivered the state-of-the-art Loyola University Nursing Simulation Laboratory. Designed by Kennedy Kraft, this fast-paced project was completed on schedule and within budget, with zero change orders. We are proud to deliver yet another significant milestone for Loyola, contributing to a first-class healthcare-centered project. The 6,600 square-foot simulation space replicates the experience of working in a real healthcare facility, featuring observation areas and debriefing rooms for students to reflect on their experiences and learn from one another. Students engage in immersive scenarios, often collaborating with peers from other professions to provide excellent, evidence-based care.

In early 2024, Mayer Building Company replaced all the ceiling tiles in the UNO Lakefront Area’s Privateer Court. This publicly bid project was completed ahead of schedule, with no disruption to UNO’s operations or events.

In late 2022, Mayer Building Company overhauled the lobby, restrooms, and courtyard of the College of Business at Loyola University. Collaborating closely with Eskew Dumas Ripple, the majority of the work was carried out during Fall Break to minimize disruption. The finished product, featuring clean contemporary touches and improved lighting, enhances the entrance experience for visitors, students, and staff.

During the summer, Mayer Building Company renovated the Smoothie King operated by Sodexo in the Loyola University Danna Center, taking advantage of the lighter student presence. This was not the first renovation Mayer Building Company has completed for Sodexo at the Danna Center, and hopefully, it won’t be the last. Leveraging its expertise in food service and restaurant design, Mayer completed this small project on time and within budget, ensuring the process was as smooth as possible.

Mayer Building Company completed a dynamic build-out of 3,400 square feet for Strayer University’s New Orleans campus in late summer 2020. The new space features state-of-the-art classrooms, conference rooms, and common areas. During the coronavirus pandemic, Strayer and Mayer adapted to build safely and incorporated touchless features throughout the facility. The owner expressed gratitude for our efforts, saying:

While students were on summer break, Mayer Building Company refreshed the classrooms, hallways, and stairs at the Net Charter School on Oretha Castle Haley. We promptly removed the worn flooring, baseboards, and doors. We reconfigured one of the large classrooms, repainted all surfaces, and replaced several doors, frames, and hardware. During Winter Break 2024, Mayer Building Company constructed a new clinical and testing area at the New Orleans East facility, collaborating with Concordia Architects.

This summer, Mayer Building Company completed a significant number of updates and improvements for Loyola University. These included a new Nursing Simulation Lab designed by Kennedy Kraft, renovations to the Miller Hall Lobby designed by Eskew+Dumez+Ripple, and numerous campus-wide enhancements guided by Loyola's in-house staff. We updated the Mercy Hall cupola, refurbished some racquetball courts, addressed remaining issues from Hurricane Ida, relocated the Arts Department, and improved the Smoothie King area in the Dana Center.

At the new New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) building, which expanded in 2018 to accommodate the Freeman School at Tulane, there was significant noise coming from overhead some key offices. On the 5th floor, a full commercial catering kitchen operates, while below it are several Tulane office spaces and work areas. Just imagine the sounds of food preparation, cooking, and cleaning directly above you while you're trying to work at your desk. With the help of EDR and Tulane Campus Services executive, Mayer Building Company successfully undertook a project that addressed this issue. We installed a new sound-deadening ceiling system and additional features as specified by the designers, while also integrating all necessary overhead systems, including sprinklers, lights, low voltage wiring, and more.

Advano’s website begins with this statement: "Electric vehicles haven’t been able to overcome the burden of cost versus range limitations.” It then elaborates on the challenge of "making a battery work with silicon." To support such bold scientific advancements, a space for experimentation, work, and discovery is crucial. Mayer Building Company transformed disused laboratory and office areas in the UNO CERN building at the lakefront into Advano’s new headquarters, working closely with the building’s existing systems and capabilities. We also enhanced the break room and a few offices to better suit Advano’s needs. Special thanks to Advano and the Linfield Hunter & Junius design team for their collaboration.

In 2024, Mayer Building Company renovated six bathrooms at Loyola Law School in Uptown New Orleans. This project primarily involved an overhaul of the finishes and was completed during the summer break, ensuring the renovations were ready before students returned. Several bathrooms were refreshed with new flooring and paint, while others underwent complete renovations that included new lighting, partitions, tile, and millwork.
