Perhaps “camelback” as a term sells this project short. In September, Mayer Building Company completed an expansive addition and second story to this home on Robert Street Uptown. New foundations and structural assemblies were required to convert this modest single into the owner’s grand 2-story vision. The project included 4 and 1/2 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, a wide open garden room overlooking a covered 14 x 30 covered porch, a chef’s kitchen, bar, jumpseat office nook, closets-for-days and new fireplace with custom hearth and mantle. Other features include painted concrete tiles, custom built iron rails, smartphone HVAC controls, antique wood floors, restored cypress columns, hidden doors, and energy efficient windows.
