La23 BBQ

In November 2016, Mayer Building Company completed the re-invention of La23 BBQ. We rebuilt and installed a commercial kitchen in LA23’s existing facilty; we raised the ceiling and added decks and rough & ready rails about the exterior; we re-clad the whole building in galvanized sheet metal. We installed a new foundation for this building and a new metal canopy replete with rustic lights and fans. Our gleaming work was delivered with minor punchlist, but it’s the owners’ work that shines in this project. The amazing reviews online don’t do justice to the incredible barbecue that the gentlemen owners serve up on a daily basis. On day one, LA23 continued its pre-renovation practice of selling out before closing with out a word of published marketing. Follow the smoke tower to La23 BBQ in Belle Chasse and you will be glad you did. Architect: Brooks Graham, Graham Little Studio. Photos: Beth Hall.

OPSO Trailer Medical Trailer Relocation

In March 2016, MBC completed a tricky little project for the Sheriff’s Office. The work consisted of breaking down the post-K medical trailer that had been stationed near the old OPP and setting it up in the new jail complex. The work consisted of the major trades that always constitute our work. After moving the trailers and “mating” them back together. We reconnected mechanical lines (sewer & water), electrical service and installed a new roof membrane. We completed foundation carpentry, trim carpentry and flooring patches. We built an ADA accessible ramp and landing, wood stairs, steel handrails and painted all the repairs. Not only did Mayer Building Company deliver satisfactory work to a new client, but also once again demonstrated that we can complete projects in unconventional spaces, with unconventional restraints, that most GCs could not.
