8207 Oak Street

At the end of the summer 2015, Mayer Building Company delivered the renovation of 8207 Oak Street for a local commercial developer. The project consisted of restoring the facade and all fenestration and storefront to exacting historic standards while converting the 14000 square foot interior to rent ready commercial space. All new services and utilities were established and an elevator installed. We also built out the common areas on the second floor which included a high end kitchenette, bathrooms, stairs and some antique wood flooring.

Teaming up with a repeat customer, the Florida construction manager, VCMG, Mayer Building Company successfully completed the interior build-out and exterior paint-works for the new Uptown Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics in January 2016. The shop includes a new layout, coffered ceilings, all new finishes, lighting, sound system, HVAC, some specialty plumbing and custom millwork.

Mayer Building Company completed a project for HGTV this summer which became the “Big Easy Reno” HGTV show pilot with Holly Baker. Designed by our favorite interior designer firm Logan Killen Interiors, the work included a new custom kitchen, new built-in millwork in the foyer and several exterior updates.

At the end of the summer 2015, Mayer Building Company completed an office expansion and overall office finishes update for the New Orleans office of Pond & Company. Located in the Rault Building, Pond, a top ENR engineering firm, required local expansion. Mayer Building Company integrated neighboring offices in the Metairie tower to include a new glass conference room, two new executive offices, a sharp new reception and entry foyer, a break room, a server closet, and a new work/ supply space. At the same time, Mayer Building Company renovated many of the finishes in the older (existing) space with minimal interruption to Pond’s occupancy.

For Ryan Gootee General Contractors in June 2015, Mayer Building Company delivered a small part of their major project at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and Rectory. Mayer Building Company was hired as a subcontractor to remove and replace the old wood siding with new OSB sheathing and cementious smooth siding on the rectory building.

During December of 2014, Mayer Building Company completed the full restoration and code updates to 1000 North Broad Street in on the border of the Treme and Esplanade Ridge neighborhoods. This building is now our headquarters. It also houses two commercial tenants. The work included storefront and facade restoration, new security, fire alarm, IT, and MEP systems. We salvaged old floors and the mid-century bathroom tiles. We installed new lights and new finishes inside and out. We dressed the facade with louvered Bahama shutters and a roof deck with custom iron rails.

In November 2014, Mayer Building Company delivered select interior improvements to a mental health clinic in Algiers. The work, which was performed after hours included several new first class millwork stations, new flooring, modification of a conference/group flex room, installation of new doors, window treatment, and paintworks. Outside the building, we installed utility services for a mobile unit.

In November 2014, Mayer Building Company completed fresh paintworks in the common area of a French Quarter apartment building. Maintenance in common areas in downtown buildings are often overlooked. This particular condo association has a beautiful common area and our clean and simple paint job helps to keep it that way.

In July 2014, Mayer Building Company completed a new restaurant / bar on Oak Street. Ale boats a new stainless steel commercial kitchen, reclaimed heart pine clad walls, a “leathered” granite bar, a new walk-cooler keg system which feeds over 30 taps, a new brick patio shared with Oak Wine Bar.
